Draguéalo

Draguéalo is an education and entertainment community project that carries out artistic, educational, cultural and celebration/ enjoyment events of an inclusive nature.

The goal is to create safe spaces for gender expression and to produce events that celebrate the diversity of gender in the Dominican Republic.

This community activation explores the intersection of culture, the climate crisis and community. Community members were trained to implement a cultural festival, driven by community inclusion and the park location is focused on arts, nature and the environment. A central feature is an interactive sculpture by Jamaican female artist Camille Chedda.

Two audio productions set at the intersection of history, biography, and ecology acknowledge the foundational impact of the plantation model in Barbados while drawing on histories of resistance and resilience found in the voice, the drum and new technologies. The project also brings together an interdisciplinary and inter-generational team of collaborators.
