Draguéalo is an education and entertainment community project that carries out artistic, educational, cultural and celebration/ enjoyment events of an inclusive nature.

The goal is to create safe spaces for gender expression and to produce events that celebrate the diversity of gender in the Dominican Republic.

The project confronts issues such as the depletion of natural resources, the negative effects of pollution, and the need to preserve land and sea habitats.

culture, the climate crisis and community. Community
members will be trained to implement a cultural festival,

Gaga del Batye Los Jovillos. Gagá is a cultural manifestation of Afro roots that came to the DR through the influence of Haitian immigrants. It is a festive expression that expresses a bond of community union that is represented as a sign of freedom from the dominant culture.

the memory of slavery on the island of Quisqueya. Building on

The film Sugar Island examines the colonial history of
Caribbean sugar and its impact today. A regional tour to Cuba,

cross-border creative exchange. Its first edition brings 20
artists from the Dominican Republic and Cuba together in
Santiago de Cuba, followed by a second residency, El Cruce, in the Dominican Republic with partners from Puerto Rico.
Centered on process, the program features workshops, artist
talks, public presentations, and community-based activities.

This project explores how migration shapes identity and
belonging in Cayman. A visual sociologist, photographer, and
recording artist work with 15 residents to create handmade
proof sheets that pair images of people and places, reflecting
experiences of change and connection. The project culminates in an exhibition that reexamines Cayman’s social fabric and highlights personal stories of identity and migration.

Mama Baranka connects young Curaçaoan authors with
migrant mothers from Venezuela, Colombia, Haiti, the
Dominican Republic, and Jamaica to create stories about their journeys, life on the island, and their hopes for the future.
Weekly sessions offer a collaborative space to develop themes and refine writing, leading to a celebratory event where selected stories are shared. By offering creative opportunities and challenging stereotypes, the project builds community and highlights the strength and resilience of migrant women— echoed in its name, “Mother Rock, ” a nod to Curaçao itself.

Bigidi is a 2022 short film that blends dance and animation to
explore Guadeloupean cultural identity and reconnection with
one’s roots. It follows Io, an astral–human figure who guides a young non-binary expatriate back to their heritage. Created
largely by women and Afrodescendant non-binary artists, the
project highlights underrepresented talent while addressing
themes like belonging and brain drain. More than a film, Bigidi
serves as a platform to celebrate West Indian identity and
spark cultural dialogue.

Para impresionar a quien (“To Impress Whom”) is an initiative
celebrating the contributions of Puerto Rican musicians to
20th- and 21st-century jazz, both on the island and in the New
York diaspora. Through concerts and conversations at the
Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and Bayamón’s Plazoleta
Ignacio Zorrilla, the project showcases the fusion of Puerto
Rican musical traditions with jazz and shares the stories behind the artists’ journeys. It aims to highlight Caribbean cultural heritage while educating and empowering local communities.

Luchas initiative, creates large- and small-format community
art pieces for the new headquarters of Colectiva Feminista en

collaborates closely with La Cole to produce works that honor
feminist resistance and document key moments in Puerto
Rico’s gender justice movements. The finished pieces will serve as a public focal point for learning, memory, and collective activism.

This archival documentary examines the life of Lolita Lebrón,
the Puerto Rican nationalist who led the 1954 armed attack on the U.S. Congress to protest U.S. colonial rule. Told entirely through archival footage and interviews, the film traces her
commitment to Puerto Rico’s independence, her 25 years of
imprisonment, and the personal sacrifices she made for
liberation. The CCF grant will support the acquisition of U.S.
archival materials. The project aims to present Puerto Rico’s
decolonization struggle through the voices of those who risked everything to end colonial domination

Machete, Masquerade, and Memory preserves and celebrates
Caribbean masquerade traditions, drawing on a family archive
from the 1960s–70s and the work of Know Your Caribbean.
Ahead of St. Lucia Carnival, the project hosts free film
screenings, panel discussions, and island-wide workshops that teach traditional masquerade and drumming techniques while examining the art form’s future amid growing
commercialization. The initiative honors ancestral creativity
and highlights masquerade as both a cultural connector and a
living act of remembrance across the Caribbean.

Operation Nex’ Generation (O.N.G.) is a creative arts training
program in St. Vincent that teaches youth ages 10–16 drama,
folk dance, storytelling, folklore, and Carnival traditions.
Through hands-on workshops and a digital content
component, participants learn to document and reinterpret
Vincentian cultural practices for wider audiences. The program aims to empower young artists, preserve cultural heritage, and lay the foundation for a future academy dedicated to nurturing Vincentian creativity.

Z.O.T – Zone d’Occupation Transitoire uses visual arts and
choreographic performance to amplify the voices of
marginalized women—especially Afro-descendant and
Indigenous women in prison—and to challenge patriarchal
judicial systems through artistic resistance. Through clay
sculpture, sound pieces, and movement-based workshops, the project uncovers stories and embodied expressions often
silenced. It culminates in Les News de la MAF, a public
installation in French Guiana and Guadeloupe in 2025, created
in collaboration with local partners to spark lasting awareness.

Pawòl a Mas is a regional photographic exhibition that
showcases the work of eight photographers interpreting the
spirit of Caribbean and American carnival traditions.
Highlighting the diversity of French- and English-speaking
carnivals, the project pairs images with written and audiovisual materials in Guadeloupean Creole to deepen cultural engagement. Presented in public spaces across Pointe-à-Pitre and Basse-Terre in early 2025, it strengthens regional collaboration and offers an accessible platform for artistic dialogue.

Temporal: Sanando el Cuerpo y la Tierra explores the
generational and emotional impacts of hurricanes in Puerto
Rico, using dance to help communities process shared trauma. Through somatic workshops rooted in Afrodescendant forms and a final performance choreographed by M. Sheron Trotman,
participants engage movement as healing. Paired with a
mangrove-focused environmental workshop, the project
connects personal resilience with ecological awareness.

This CROSSROADS-CCCADI project brings together artists,

Between Cosmovisions and Resistance is an interdisciplinary
residency in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico, exploring Indigenous,
Afro-descendant, and Caribbean worldviews and their
histories of resistance. In partnership with the Verde Aguacate Foundation, the program includes workshops, discussions, and a final exhibition that invites community dialogue. Featuring artists Cédrick Calvados, Velvet Ramos, and Teresa Karolina, it examines themes such as carnival, native foods, ritual, and memory through collaborative artistic practices.

The 6th Hairouna Film Festival (HFF) in St. Vincent and the
Grenadines will take place in 2025, featuring free outdoor
screenings of films from around 12 Caribbean countries and a fiction filmmaking fellowship for emerging Vincentian talent. In collaboration with Muska Films, cast and crew from Kidnapping Inc. will attend the festival and lead a workshop. HFF aims to strengthen SVG’s film sector by nurturing local creativity and addressing gaps in training and opportunities.

Salt & Sand is a multidisciplinary sculptural project that uses
life-casting and 3D scanning to explore the relationship
between modern Bahamian identity and Lucayan ancestry,
serving as both artwork and living archive. Presented as a solo exhibition supported by community workshops, school visits, and heritage activities, it creates a sonic and visual map of Bahamian presence while inviting audiences to honor the past and imagine a shared future.

Radical Acts of Publishing is a six-week incubator by Poinciana Paper Press that brings together six participants to explore publishing as an act of resistance and creative expression, experimenting with models that reflect diverse Caribbean voices. publishing.

Wired for Change is a creative initiative that empowers
underserved artists in Belize through costume design, technical training, and storytelling, beginning with research and mentorship in Trinidad and Tobago under mas practitioner Stacy Low. Returning to Belize, the artist will lead eight-week workshops that teach welding, wire bending, and costume design, culminating in a traveling exhibition and performance that celebrates local stories while preserving Caribbean mas traditions and building new skills and cultural pride.

This six-month project provides intensive Indigenous arts
training in the Kalinago Territory across five disciplines,
preparing a 300-member Kalinago band to present an
Indigenous-themed performance at Dominica’s 2026 National
Carnival Parade. Beyond the parade, it supports cultural
preservation and intergenerational knowledge transfer as
elders teach youth traditional crafts, chants, and ceremonial
practices, strengthening awareness of Dominica’s Indigenous
heritage.

Koudmen Across the Sea is a public art installation promoting
Caribbean solidarity through two large sculptures on
Dominica’s north and south coasts, facing Guadeloupe and
Martinique. Inspired by koudmen—the Kweyol tradition of
“giving a helping hand”—the project uses community dialogue
to design hand-shaped forms symbolizing unity. Made from
local, sustainable materials, the sculptures celebrate shared
responsibility, resilience, and the power of mutual support
across borders

Before Us is a cultural preservation and storytelling project
documenting the voices, knowledge, and lived experiences of
elders across Guyana’s Rupununi region, beginning with five
pilot sub-districts. Through filmed interviews, writing, and

histories of the Rupununi Uprising and ancestral healing— to
be shared through short videos, a YouTube channel, and a
printed compilation for education and archival use

The CREAL Project (“Creations for Alternative Education”) is a
joint initiative of ACTE and ARTICENA that uses theatre to
teach history, geography, and civic values to displaced and
vulnerable students in Haiti’s West, South, and Southeast
departments. Running from October 2025 to June 2026 and
supported by CCF, it will expand activities in the South through artistic productions and coordinated school partnerships that strengthen children’s critical thinking, identity, and civic engagement.

The Foundation for the Development of Rural Communities
(SORG) partners with the TUMAW Foundation in Brownsweg,
Suriname to support Maroon and Indigenous women and
youth, strengthening economic resilience while preserving
cultural identity. Together, they are developing a
Transmigration Museum to display historical objects, train
storytelling guides, and foster community pride and income;
the building is in place, with funding needed for furnishings.

Sound the Shift is a cross-Caribbean music initiative that raises environmental awareness among youth through original songs, compelling visuals, and educational outreach. Led by creatives from The Bahamas and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the team will co-create five songs on themes like climate change and plastic pollution, paired with regional campaigns, school toolkits, and public events to inspire climate action and Caribbean unity.

ceremonial practice, it fosters Indigenous pride,
intergenerational learning, and regional unity, with activities

The Caribbean Memory Project will digitize and restore over
100 hours of rare recordings from Georgetown’s Sidewalk Jazz Club (1993–2010), preserving performances by leading
Caribbean jazz musicians previously captured by Videomega
Productions. The archive—featuring artists and thinkers from
Guyana, Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, and Saint Lucia—will be
freely accessible on YouTube and activated through regional
collaborations, screenings, and educational partnerships.

Divided Islands is a collaboratively created documentary

Led by the Haiti Jazz Foundation, this initiative seeks to
establish Kreol Jazz as a recognized genre by bringing together artists and cultural partners from across the Caribbean, including Tony Chasseur, Richard Payne, the Association Kreol, and Jazz Créole Média. Blending jazz with Afro-descendant Creole rhythms such as biguine, gwoka, maloya, vodou, and soca, the project will elevate the genre through a manifesto, website, filmed conference, media campaign, and standardized metadata to strengthen visibility and structure.

Clay Roots is a cultural revitalization project led by the Nevis
Historical and Conservation Society (NHCS) with Newcastle
Pottery (Nevis) and Hamilton Pottery (Barbados), guided by
master ceramist Ronaldo Wiltshire to preserve and revive
traditional Afro-Caribbean pottery. Through mentorship,
workshops, studio upgrades, and documentation, the initiative
trains emerging Nevisian potters and supports cultural tourism so the craft remains a living tradition and sustainable creative industry.

This 10-day literary residency in Curaçao, ahead of the
Wintertuin Curaçao Festival on September 20, 2025, welcomes Puerto Rican writer Dayra Montoyo to engage with the island’s literary community and explore the festival theme brio— “shine” and “courage” in Papiamentu. Through workshops, dialogue, and a public reading, the residency supports crossisland collaboration, linguistic diversity, and new creative work rooted in shared Caribbean histories of resilience.

The Waitukubuli Artist Association’s new residency on climate
resilience welcomes Martinican artist JKing to explore
adaptation, ecology, and shared Caribbean identity through
creative exchange, building on WAA’s post–Hurricane Maria
mission of unity through art. In partnership with Caapi Cottage Retreats, the three-week Kweyol-season program features studio work, cultural excursions, public workshops, and an open studio, strengthening French–English Caribbean

(February 2–28, 2026) bringing together David Démétrius
(Guadeloupe), an artist from New Orleans, and one from the

workshops, roundtables, and a final presentation, the initiative
strengthens cross-territorial exchange and elevates
contemporary Creole cultural expression across the Caribbean and the United States.

Lucian artists Curmiah Lisette, Fiona Compton, and Indira
Toussaint. Working with three schools and a community group, the project explores national and personal independence through St Lucia’s history, migration, and cultural traditions. Activities include film screenings, creative writing, performance workshops, and practical arts such as drumming, dance, and design. Lakay aims to empower marginalized youth by strengthening connections to Kwéyòl culture, carnival arts, and local heritage.

Tartane, Martinique, offering a space for collective exploration
and play. The residency’s theme—in the shade—draws from
Black, queer, and feminist practices of opacity, indirection,

authoritarian realities. Time and space are shaped by the
group’s intentions, allowing artists to deepen their practice

Radical Acts of Publishing is a six-week incubator by Poinciana Paper Press that brings together six participants to explore publishing as an act of resistance and creative expression, experimenting with models that reflect diverse Caribbean voices. Through hands-on training in design, printing, and bookbinding, participants create zines and chapbooks for a final exhibition and launch, supported by a new risograph printer that will strengthen community access to independent publishing.
