CCF Grantee Feature- April 2026

The Arte-Suelo-Ser project explores how Caribbean artists are reconnecting with soil and clay as powerful expressions of memory, identity, and cultural heritage across the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Puerto Rico. Through the documentary La memoria de la arcilla, the initiative follows artists who transform earth into art, revealing the land as a living archive of ancestral knowledge and ecological meaning. By blending artistic practice with community engagement and environmental awareness, the project challenges traditional notions of art while highlighting Afro-Caribbean and Antillean perspectives. Supported by the Caribbean Culture Fund, it extends beyond the film through a Virtual Museum of Caribbean Soils and ongoing exhibitions, ultimately inviting audiences to see soil not just as material, but as a vital connection to history, culture, and a more sustainable future.
